I’ve been a mobil disc jockey for more than 20 years. I have never made it a full-time job, but enjoy it so much that it’s hard to say “no” when asked to set my gear up and rock the joint. I have been blessed to meet a very successful business owner – Scotty O’Brien with Sunshine Entertainment Group – that has made mobil entertainment his career, and offers some of his events when he gets more business than he can handle by himself.
This past weekend was a biggie: Nissan headquarters located south of Nashville, TN. More than 8,000 employees and family members joined me on their huge campus for a party. Food (a parking lot full), games (midway, Wii Challenge, Dance-Dance Revolution, model race cars), rides (inflatables and carnival), as well as interactive contest (that’s where I come in). Scotty drove down a day early and set up the design and laid all the wires for the sound system. The area we needed to cover with sound was large, so a total of 14 speakers were set up around the park.
The area we covered is indicated with the blue pins and lines. Of course, we couldn’t broadcast loud enough, or clear enough, into the food area near the carnival rides and had to stay clear of the bingo tent, but you could hear my voice all the way to the satellite parking lot. How big was it really? Click on the picture and scroll around. By the way, in the middle of this map are four tennis courts, a pool (covered), and baseball field. Does that give you a better idea of the scale?
Lots of good music, interactive games, tons of things to do in a great area of our country on a beautiful day. I’m very lucky to get this opportunity, and lucky that everyone I talked to said they had a great time.
So, what did you do last weekend?
