Pros and Cons of Suze Orman’s Approved Card

There’s a new product on the market, sort of

Financial Adviser and TV host Suze Orman has created a pre-paid card that is supposed to be the smart choice for you. What are the true benefits of the Approved Card that isn’t a credit card?

9 Benefits Of The Card (with my thoughts)

Pros and Cons of Suze Orman's Approved Card

Weighing out the pros and cons

You can live on less than you make, have an emergency fund, monitor your credit report (not score), and teach your kids about money without having to tie yourself to a brand-name card. And you can do it all for free.

Yeah, this is an okay card, but there are so many valuable free alternatives that it seems useless.

Awesome job breaking down a crappy product. Just because a celebrity puts their name on it and says it’s good, doesn’t mean it’s worth anything.

Let me make this perfectly clear (sounds like something Suze would say, doesn’t it?), I like some of the things Suze does. She does inspire people to reduce debt and pay attention. She does get people to think about personal finance that would rather be out shopping. So I wanted to look at this card objectively.
I would love to see the Credit Project come to fruition, I think TransUnion has a vested interest in creating a new product to sell. If she can pull that off then I’d be happy.
But that’s the only real benefit that may come from this celebrity endorsed product.
