Happy New You Year!

Did you set new goals for 2015?

I did – and there are BIG changes coming to my life.

While I hate to make this show all about me, today’s episode is just that – all about the Brand Steve Stewart.

What is a Personal Brand?

A brand is what people think about someone or something when they aren’t in the room.

It’s not a logo, it’s not a catch phrase, it isn’t even a name; it’s all of the above.

Ryan Rhoten is my Personal Branding Coach helping me create my brand.

Listen to Ryan’s thoughts on:

  • If you aren’t Googleable, you don’t exist
  • How to create an online brand
  • Ryan’s journey to the front page of Google
  • Which online branding sites to use

You can also hear Ryan dive deeper into the topic of personal branding on his brand new podcast: The Brand New You (iTunes)

What happened to Baby Steps? Sounds like you are doing a Reverse 2 1/2 Somersaults in the Pike Position off the high platform. Best wishes in your career change. We are all rooting for you. Don’t worry that the podcast was too much about you. By sharing your thoughts and experiences you are providing great inspiration for us to map out our own plans for a brand new 2015.

One thought though, Do you really think you will be as successful with a .me address as a .com? I think that getting people to type that URL in will be a really hard path since the .me is nowhere near the household name as .com. I can’t help but wonder why you didn’t follow Ryan Rhoten’s example and register use your middle initial: steveostewart.com (which I checked and is available). Also steveo sounds pretty cool sort of like rice delman.com and would help to distinguish you further.

I’m not doing anything that breaks the rules of the Baby Steps. Before starting any get-out-of-debt and stay-out-of-debt plan is to stop borrowing money. We aren’t borrowing money, it’ll just be tight for a while and we won’t be going on our horse ranch vacation. In fact, our house will be paid off in a year – that’s BS6.

I wanted a .com address but nothing made as much sense as just having my name. In fact, I also own SteveStewart.rocks but that REALLY sounded too prideful. Now all you need to do is “Steve Stewart Me”, meaning send me an email or message via social media.

Thanks for the well-wishes. God has a plan and everything is going to be OK.

New resolution for secondtimothy. Try to use your wit a little more judiciously in 2015.

I was not criticizing you for violating Dave Ramsey’s Baby Steps. More than anyone else I know, you hold fast to his doctrine. And anyone visiting this page needs to know that.

I was merely trying using the reference to baby steps in a humorous way to highlight the significance of this major step you are taking in 2015. This is a big step that requires courage and confidence. And I do believe Steve Stewart Rocks!

Steve, you’ve hit yet another one out of the park. Very good information and worth every bit of time invested. Keep up the good work and look forward to each new episode! Ryan is dead on with the branding information and have used this in the past when setting up a consulting business which led to full time employment with a great company.

Dave Ramsey is copying you! Starting in 2015 Dave Ramsey is doing the same thing with his brand as you are. I notice on his show he has changed ‘Financial Peace Plaza’ to ‘Ramsey Solutions Headquarters’. Steve you are just so cutting edge.
