Brian “The Money-Guy” Preston is a Certified Financial Planner and Wealth Manager in Georgia who also puts out a free PodCast (see Money-Guy.com). He had recommended a few times over the past couple of years a book from David Chilton called “The Wealthy Barber” (here is a link to purchase a used copy). I have had the pleasure of borrowing a copy from my local library and I have to say it really is a good easy-to-read book.
The story take place, oddly enough, in a barber’s shop where three young adults get their hair cut. I am finding this book very easy to read and covers many of the topics every adult should know about personal finance. The advice written into the storyline is along the same lines as Dave Ramsey’s “Total Money Makeover“, and simple real-life examples are explained in common-sense ways.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who feels that they do not know much about retirement saving and insurance or the importance of having a will. I’m only 50 pages into the 190 page book, so I’ll let you know if I find anything crazy or contradictory in a future post.
