There are 5 things that need to be in place before paying off debt and saving for the future:

  1. Get on the same page with your spouse or accountability partner
  2. Commit to never borrow money again.  No more debt
  3. Prepare a written budget or spending plan
  4. TEMPORARILY stop saving money
  5. Get CURRENT on the necessities and bills/payments
